Pure
Golf is rooted in the history and traditions of the game.
It
is wind swept and has undulating fairways and greens protected
by
deep, sod-faced bunkers and bordered by wispy fescue grasses.
Pure
golf plays dry and fast and all the trouble is on the ground
between
the golfer and the hole. Pure golf requires courage,
skill
and strategy. Experience

Tarandowah's
course designer, Dr. Martin Hawtree is a third generation English golf course architect in the longest serving golf design office in the world. His grandfather,
Frederick G. Hawtree, began the business in 1912, associating
himself with J.H. Taylor, 4-time British Open winner.
Hawtree
has been consulted on some of the major links courses in the
UK and Ireland: Lahinch, Royal Dublin, Portmarnock, and Royal
Birkdale - an Open Championship links course that all three
generations of Hawtree have worked on. Martin has worked a
great deal in Scotland and was consulted by the R&A over
alterations at Carnoustie for the 2007 Open Championship. He is currently being consulted by Muirfield, Montrose,
Nairn, Royal Aberdeen, Prestwick, and the Links
Trust of St. Andrews, all celebrated as some of
the great links courses of Scotland.

"Fairness
in golf is one of our hang ups at the moment...
I've never bought into that obsession with fairness, an obsession
with justice.
Those were never meant to be a part of golf."
Dr.
Martin Hawtree, Course Architect
